Marcia Drut-Davis

Author & Pioneering Advocate for Parenting Choice
Stuart, FL
Memorably profiled in a 1974 episode of “60 Minutes”, Drut-Davis was one of the first American women to speak publicly about making the decision to live childfree. She is an outspoken author and pioneering advocate for parenting choices. Her primary focus is on reaching hearts, by dispelling myths and supporting the joys of living a rewarding life without the title of “Mom”.

Unlike younger childfree by choice women, she can’t be threatened with the possibility she’ll change her mind or should do whatever she can do attain the revered title of “Mom”.  At age 74, that would be impossible. She is author of Confessions of a Childfree Woman: A Life Spent Swimming Against the Mainstream, and a popular speaker on pronatalism, parenting choice and assumptions about regret.

Marcia became committed to helping others overcome the stigma against non-parents after facing death threats, picket lines and a lost teaching position following the CBS broadcast.
At age 50, Drut-Davis earned a graduate degree in teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) and returned to the profession she loved. Before retiring in 2000, she was nominated by her peers for Disney’s American Teacher Awards.
