Melissa is a Gen-Xer and native Austinite. She has worked as a policy analyst for the House of Representatives, with focus on higher and public education, and currently works for the philanthropic arm of UT Austin, one of America's best public universities. Like most proud alums, she bleeds burnt orange. She believes that funding higher education is one of the best legacies one can leave to future generations. In her spare time, she enjoys freelance writing for media outlets like xoJane.com and participating in Olympic recurve archery.
